In this two-day summer workshop for rising seniors, students will learn how to write a vibrant, standout college application essay that shows off their unique voice and accomplishments. They will evaluate examples of successful essays, brainstorm ideas in response to the Common Application questions, do in-class writing exercises, and workshop an essay with their peers. Students will receive guidance on structure, style, and language, using scenes, dialogue, and sensory detail to captivate college admissions officers. By the end of the two-day session, each student will have a draft of the Common Application essay, and detailed feedback on how to polish this essay, as well as tools and techniques for tackling additional essays.
